Vaira Vike-Freiberga
She is the 6th president of Latvia, at the same time she is the very first female president in Latvia as well as in entire east Europe. Mrs. Vaira was the president of Latvia from 1999 to 2007 (two-term).
Under her presidency Latvia has achieved the determined goals and objectives; Latvia has become the member of European Union and NATO.
Nowadays, Mrs. Vaira is actively involved in the international politics and is the social ambassador of Secretary -General of United Nations; in 2006 she was the candidacy of Secretary -General of United Nations. She selflessly strives to protect and guarantee liberty, equality and social justice throughout the world. In 2007 she was nominated as the vice chairman of Reflection Group (intellectual club).
She is also well known for her activities in psycholinguistics, semiotics and literature researches conducted in her country.
