Welcome to the School of Politics and International Relations

Welcome to the School of Politics and International Relations. One of UG's founding units, we are now a fast-growing department covering a broad spectrum of the field of Politics and International Relations.  We offer a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees drawing on a rich portfolio of courses blending rigorous scholarship and relevance to the challenges of today's increasingly complex world.

The School is a vibrant and friendly academic community, offering the opportunity to study and research a wide range of topics in four closely related areas of academic work. With over twenty members of staff, PAIR is one of the largest academic departments at the University of Georgia, providing an exciting environment for study at BA and postgraduate levels. PAIR brings together academic specialists in two areas:

Politics
International Relations

We aim to promote excellence in teaching and research in the core disciplines of politics and international studies, and are particularly committed to promoting interdisciplinary degree schemes and research.

Notwithstanding that School is newly established it plays an important role in both the academic community of political studies and national politics in Georgia. Many of the  graduates go on to take up positions in the public service, the news media, in politics and in academia. Our staff members are often called upon to comment on national and world affairs on radio, TV and in newspapers. The School has been among the most successful programmes at UG in terms of student enrolment, after-study employment, level of student satisfaction in course evaluation, and staff publications and community contributions. The school is an important part of the University’s strategic efforts for international excellence, with our internationally diverse student population and staff members, as well as the strong international component of our teaching and research.

I trust that the information on this website is interesting and useful to you. We will do our best to make the administration of the school efficient and effective. Please feel free to contact me or anyone else at the school if further assistance is needed.
